ICBC c.a.r. Valet Collision Repair Shop – Preferred Vendor for Family Insurance and Other Private Insurance Companies
In the unfortunate event that your car has been damaged, you first need to notify the police and then your insurance company.
If you’re involved in a minor fender-bender the police don’t usually get involved, but it’s good practice to check with them just in case. It’s important that you make sure you also get the personal details of any other party involved, as well as their insurance documentation.
If your car was involved in a hit and run or was broken into, call the police and your insurance company immediately. Then, search for any potential witnesses who may be able to identify the culprit.
If you are insured with ICBC, call their hotline at 604-520-8222 and follow their instructions. In most cases it’s unnecessary to go to a Claim Center since we are an ICBC Repair Facility. Simply bring your vehicle and your claim number along with your registration papers to Horizon Auto Body, and we will take care of the rest.
Private Insurance Companies
If you are insured with any other insurer, you still have the right to choose which auto body shop will fix your vehicle. For instance, Family Insurance is one of the private insurers that recommends us, because we are their Preferred Vendor. That being said, we always provide the same great service to clients with a wide variety of other private insurance companies as we do to ICBC clients, and to individuals who choose to pay for the repairs themselves. Remember that your vehicle belongs to you, and you will be the one driving it after it’s repaired. This means that you have the right to turn down your insurer’s recommended collision repair facility in favor of Horizon Auto Body. Make sure that you work with your insurance company to keep your best interest in mind, and to choose the right auto body shop for YOU.
Should I Make Another Claim?
We are often asked whether it’s worthwhile for a customer to make an insurance claim or pay for the repair themselves. Our competitors, on the other hand, first ask whether your insurance company is paying for the repair. Don’t worry! Your insurance company representative will inform you if another claim will result in increased premiums, and you will not be penalized in any way for asking. Keep in mind that your deductible is likely to be $300.00, and any repair that costs more (and most of them do) may be covered without your premiums increasing. ICBC provides a chart (see left) that allows you to quickly find out what the impact might be if you submit another claim.
Leased Vehicles
When you lease a vehicle, you make monthly payments for the right to enjoy all the benefits of owning that vehicle. These benefits include the right to have your vehicle fixed properly at the collision repair shop of your choice. Normally, you don’t need to contact your leasing company in the event of an accident. Just contact us by phone, fax, and email, or simply drop by with your vehicle, and we will provide an estimate right away.
